Jennifer Hudson’s first child, David Daniel Otunga, Jr, was born on August 10 weighing 7-pounds, 14-ounces. Her fiance is David Otunga, a contestant on I Love New York 2.

Her publicist said, “The baby is beautiful and perfect. His parents are ecstatic.”

And we couldn’t be more ecstatic for the singer and actress who sadly lost several members of her family last year. You may recall that Hudson's mother, brother and nephew were killed last year in a shooting. Sadness aside, Hudson has proved she has staying power and the ability to triumph through a tragedy.

She has had quite a year! After turning down the opportunity to sing The Star Spangled Banner at President Obama’s inauguration on January 20, Hudson dazzled us with her comeback at the Superbowl.

Then, she raked in Grammy gold soon thereafter with her first album, Jennifer Hudson. After making a splash with her role in the Sex and the City Movie and let’s not forget, her scene stealing performance a few years ago in Dreamgirls, it seems the future is very bright for the starlet whose family just added joy and hope.
