Los Angeles police responded to a 911 call at 12:30 February 9 following a report that an argument between Chris Brown and a woman who were together in a vehicle. The report said the couple had gotten violently physical. When police arrived, they found the woman alone -- and injured. The officially-unnamed woman named Brown as her attacker.
Coincidentally, Brown’s girlfriend Rihanna canceled her scheduled Grammy performance Sunday after suffering mild facial bruising from what her people are calling a “car accident,” although police records don’t show she was involved in one in the last few days.
"We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight's 51st Annual Grammy Awards. We're sorry she is unable to join us this evening," read a statement from The Recording Academy last evening.
Strange that mild facial bruising would cause Rihanna to cancel a Grammy performance when such a slight injury could be easily covered with makeup. Strange, that is, if in fact it was caused by a fender-bender. If it was caused by a battering from her boyfriend, her frayed nerves would certainly be more than enough to warrant escaping the world’s spotlight for a bit.
Brown also canceled his Grammy performance by the way.
Rihanna just appeared at Saturday night's 2009 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoring Clive Davis.
Update Feb 9, 3 pm PST: LA law enforcement sources have reported that the victim's name on the official police report is Robyn Fenty: Rihanna's real name.
They claim the victim sustained injuries including contusions and bite marks. Brown has turned himself in to police and no statements have been released yet by either his or Rihanna's camps.
