The selection of winter flowers may seem limited, but many varieties are available through florists year-round. Roses, for instance, are a summer flower, but they can be found in any color virtually any month of the year. Orchids, one of the most popular and traditional wedding blooms, come in multiple colors, levels of durability, and price ranges. Cymbidium orchids (which can be quite expensive) range from green to hot pink to stark white.
The centers of the flower also vary in color. Cattleya orchids are large, delicate blossoms found in shades of white with yellow and fuchsia centers among other colors (and are also very expensive). Dendrobium orchids are available in colors ranging from pinks to purples and are sturdy as well as moderately priced.

For flowers in winter white, baby’s breath, chrysanthemums, and roses top the list. For jewel tones, gerbera daisies, alstroemeria, and chrysanthemums (they come in red and purple too) are striking, affordable choices for winter.

Add texture and drama with other winter plants and foliage like holly, ivy, pine, and red and yellow dogwood. Pussy willows are also a beautiful option and provide a soft contrast when paired with bright red, pink, or purple blooms.

There are many flowers which are available year round and amazingly beautiful in the winter time. Flowers which are grown in climates where there are no seasons allows for flowers to produce year round so even those hard to get peonies are virtually available year now thanks to globalization. I am the head wedding flower consultant at Fiftyflowers and with our partner farms literally all over the world, you can have just about any flower you want, just when it is off season locally it will be more expensive.
