Mixologist Tim Laird offers some helpful tips to spruce up your holiday cocktails to be more festive and delicious.

Start off with a Margarita base and a vodka base. If you mix up a pitcher of each ahead a time, you can be ready to easily mix the cocktails when your guests arrive.

The perfect Margarita base

  • 1 1/2 oz. Herradura Silver
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup

Vodka base

  • 1 1/2 oz. Finlandia Vodka
  • 1/2 oz. orange liqueur

“You can store these bases in your refrigerator so they are nice and chilled. With both, you should give them a good stir before pouring them in either a martini or rocks glass,” says Tim Laird.

To dress up your cocktails with color and a little bit of flavor, use:

  • Pomegranate juice for red
  • Melon liqueur for green
  • Blue-raspberry mix (or Blue Curacao) for blue
  • Apple cider for gold

Tim demonstrates how to mix the drinks in this accompanying video:
