Who is Sarah Palin?
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is slated to accept the Republican nomination for the Vice President of the United States at the convention tonight. This political neophyte has taken the presidential campaign by storm and has many wondering: Who is Sarah Palin?

Her history
Palin was born in Idaho in 1964 as the third of four children. Her parents moved the family to Alaska when she was barely two months old. Eventually settling in Wasilla, Alaska, Palin grew up to become one of the state’s most fierce point guards. ‘Sarah Barracuda’ became her nickname because of her utter tenacity on the basketball court.During her high school years, her activities were not limited to the basketball court. Palin became a beauty queen and finished as the runner-up in the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant.
Palin went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho in communications-journalism in 1987.
Her wish to work for ESPN was dashed when she discovered she would have to move to Connecticut where the station was located. Palin did not want to leave Alaska. She returned to Wasilla and worked part-time as a sportscaster.
Her family
Her heart was in Alaska. She married her high school sweetheart, Todd Palin. The couple has five children together including a newborn, Trig, born with Down’s syndrome.Todd’s a four-time champion of the Iron Dog, the world’s longest snowmachine race. He currently works for the oil industry.
