“How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer” is a comedy from the brilliant mind of Mexican-American auteur Georgina Garcia Riedel.

The film about three generations of Mexican-American women and how they live their days on the border town is a comedic look at the relationships not only between women in a close-knit family, but how those relationships differ within cultures and generations.

“How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer” stars “Ugly Betty” herself, America Ferrara in what is the first of two roles for her this hotter season. The second, “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” arrives in August.

The movie also stars Elizabeth Pena and Lucy Gallardo as mother to Ferrara’s character and her mother respectively. Pena and Gallardo form a fantastic acting tandem and the anticipation of witnessing these two flexing their acting muscles alongside Ferrar’s charming teenage performance (this film is two years old and is only now seeing release) is sure to be pure bliss.

Up against the highly-touted “Narnia” sequel, this film has its hands full in the competition department, but surely nothing can touch it emotionally.
