It's time to break out the beer and hot wings! Giving you an excuse to indulge in all things fried and unhealthy, the Super Bowl is around the corner and we're here to help you plan your bash. Really all you need is some snacks and a few cold ones, but if you want to make an impression on your friends, go the extra mile and throw a party to end all parties.

Men Watching Football

1. It all starts with the food.

This is the key element to any successful party and since you’ll be watching football, it doesn’t have to be fancy. You can never really go wrong with wings or foot long subs, but there’s also the option of barbequing hot dogs and hamburgers.

Of course you'll have to make sure the grill is in plain view of the television! Having plenty of snacks on hand is also a good idea, so stock up on chips, peanuts, pretzels, veggie platters and if you’re feeling ambitious, a 7-layer dip always goes over well. If you’re thinking of ordering pizza or any other food, make sure you call ahead because this is one of the busiest nights for restaurants that deliver!

2. Don’t forget the beer.

What’s a Super Bowl party without a cold one to throw back? If you’re having a huge bash, a keg is always a popular choice, but if it’s just a small gathering, a well-stocked cooler in full view of the game will do nicely. But don’t forget your non-beer drinking friends. Having a few other options available is certainly considerate, so grab a few bottles of liquor and non-alcoholic drinks, or instruct your guests to bring their beverage of choice if they don’t enjoy the hops.

3. Football in the kitchen.

Aside from your undoubtedly large screen TV, having a couple other well-placed sets around the house will enable your guests to mingle and move around while still keeping up with the game.

4. Set the mood.

TV, food,  and beer is generally all it takes to create a good Super Bowl experience, but if you want to create an even more festive mood, decorate with football themed (your team of choice perhaps?) napkins, plates, tablecloths, paper helmets and Nerf footballs. Also, having foam "bad-call bricks" to throw at the TV for your disgruntled guests is always a good move.

5. Encourage competition.

It’s always fun to engage in friendly wagers, and setting up betting boards, pools and trivia games can be a fun way to keep people interested, because let’s face it, by the second half things can get a little slow. Prizes can be monetary by having everyone throw money in a pot, or you can pick up jerseys, beer, footballs and the like to hand out to the winners.

6. End on a positive note.

A Super Bowl party is all about fun, and drinking is generally a good portion of that. However, part of throwing a great party involves making sure everyone gets home safely. Arrange for transportation, designate drivers, or even be that person yourself and pickup and drop off your friends before and after the game.
