Kids a Cookin' - Munchable Monster Toast

This simple recipe is fun any time, but especially useful as a way to anticipate Halloween without candy. Kids can just paint a scary face. The recipe makes six one-slice servings, but is easy to adapt for more, if youngsters was to keep, rather than eat, some of their creations.
Ingredients:
1 cup water
4 colors of food coloring
6 slices white bread
Butter or margarine

Directions:
1. Wash your hands.

2. Pour 1/4 cup water in a small custard cup or other well-balanced bowl and add several drops food coloring. Repeat this process with the other colors.

3. Toast bread slices.

4. Paint wild monster faces on toast with the food coloring mixtures.

5. Butter the toast, and munch your monsters!

Per serving: 12g carbohydrates; less than 1g dietary fiber; 2g protein; 5g fat (2.5g saturated); 10mg cholesterol; 130mg sodium; 100 calories.

Helpful hints:
Kids need to learn about the proper use of all kitchen appliances, and the toaster can be a simple place start. Just be sure to show them how to adjust the toasterīs browning setting first.

Safety tip:
Warn youngsters again sticking a knife or fork in a toaster thatīs still connected to electricity. Show them that if toast gets stuck, you must unplug the toaster before getting the toast out.
